GNARLY 90 is a bold movement designed to raise awareness for youth mental health by sparking creativity, connection and movement over 90 days. Inspired by the idea that 90 days of action leads to lasting change.
Gnarly 90 was founded by Jayden Sheridan, who grew up in Seymour. The township ranks in the top nine per cent of Australia’s most disadvantaged communities.
Navigating life without a stable home, Jayden was on the path to crisis until he made a promise to change the narrative for himself and his son.
In August 2021, that vision became reality with the launch of Gnarly Neighbours.
Gnarly 90 is the next chapter of this mission: showing up, taking action, and building resilience, so no young person has to walk through life alone.
“We need to stop waiting for the situation to turn to crisis before we act. Prevention, connection, and creativity should be the baseline not the backup plan. Gnarly Neighbours has shown what’s possible when we lead with lived experience and back young people early,” he said.
This month, Jayden will begin 90 days of training to prepare for his own Gnarly 90 and then, in November he will run from Seymour to Brunswick: a distance just short of 100km.
All Australians are invited to take on challenges that fuel mental wellbeing, self-expression, and community spirit.
Individuals can also set personal goals, track their progress, and share their success stories online.
Schools can host school-wide events such as wellbeing weeks and businesses can sponsor teams and activate communities to support the cause.
The Gnarly 90 website will be launched next week.
