McEWEN has officially been declared, with a ceremony on Thursday officially declaring Rob Mitchell as the continuing candidate for the seat.
The ceremony was held at Wandong Public Hall, with Mr Mitchell again serving, as he has since 2010.
The final count saw Mr Mitchell win by 9739 votes.
“It’s a great honour and privilege to be once again re-elected and be entrusted by our community to be your representative in Federal Parliament,” he said.
“Our community has given us a strong endorsement to continue to deliver what is important to all Australians.”
Mr Mitchell also acknowledged his team of volunteers and his competition along the way.
“We had everything thrown at us but these amazing people put everything on the line to get the job done,” he said.
“I would also like to thank the other candidates, especially the few who have passed on their congratulations. It speaks volumes of a person when they can acknowledge you following a campaign.
“Also a huge thanks to the AEC for their professionalism through the whole electoral process.
“As a local it is always an honour to be chosen to serve our community and my continued focus will be on honouring my commitments and achieving the best outcomes for our community.”
