DESPITE a bizarre ending, Mitchell Rangers were unable to get the points in their Men’s State League 5 North match up against La Trobe University.

La Trobe started strongly at Broadford Secondary College to go three goals up by the long break, but Mitchell Rangers fought hard in the second half to generate a couple of opportunities.

However, a red card saw the game abandoned during the second half, resulting in a 3-0 result to La Trobe.

The Mitchell Rangers women’s team had an almighty crack against Brunswick Zebras, but a goal in the last 10 minutes meant that the team are stiff without a point in the Women’s State League 3 North competition.

A goal from Cesca Falcini in the 81st minute prevented Mitchell Rangers from picking up their first point of the season.

Mitchell Rangers will travel to Melbourne University for their women’s match on Sunday, while the men will travel to nearby FC Birrarung.
