THE Kilmore community will enjoy an upgraded Ryans Creek Reserve following the completion of its latest works.
On Thursday, Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes cut the opening ribbon at the reserve which now boasts a pump track, fitness equipment, soccer goals, pathways and pedestrian bridges and an accessible unisex toilet.
The completion of stage two accompanies the upgrades of stage one which saw the construction of a large play space, initial pathways and solar lighting.
Ms Symes said the upgrades would support a thriving Kilmore that was growing more and more with families moving into the area.
“Our fastest-growing areas need extra support, which is why we’re making sure grants are going to where they’ll make the most impact and be of most community benefit,” she said.
“We’re excited to officially open the new and improved facilities at Ryans Creek Reserve, which will bring the community together and benefit them for years to come.”
The Ryans Creek Reserve Activation project has been made possible with a $900,000 contribution from the State Government and a further $200,000 from the Mitchell Shire Council.
Mitchell Shire Council Mayor, Cr John Dougall, who also attended the opening said projects such as the Ryans Creek Reserve Activation could not be possible without partnerships.
“These outcomes require partnerships and cooperation between layers of government, and that’s what happened here,” Cr Dougall said.
“To pull these off, it’s not just something council can solve. To make it a meaningful, functional and lasting outcome, it’s much harder, but the work has to be done, and this is an example of it.”
