Local residents across Whittlesea will enjoy the benefits of Optus fast-tracking its 5G network rollout, thanks to recent upgrades that include the activation of 5G on an existing site bringing the total number of 5G-enabled sites in the area to two.
Both these sites now offer Optus 5G+, providing broader coverage and greater capacity compared to standard Optus 5G. This means a better mobile experience for eligible customers in the local area.
These improvements reinforce Optus’ longstanding commitment to the Whittlesea community, which dates back to the region’s first Optus tower in 2004. Alongside the two 5G sites, the broader Whittlesea area benefits from three Optus 4G sites, ensuring residents, businesses, and visitors remain connected and supported as the region continues to grow.
Jayson Grool, Local General Manager at Optus, said Optus is committed to giving customers in Whittlesea and surrounds access to great mobile coverage and fast internet.
“Local businesses and customers in the region will soon notice the positive impacts of Optus 5G connectivity as the roll-out continues over the coming months,” he said.
“The improved connectivity for Whittlesea and surrounding areas will bring significant benefits, including faster data speeds and wider 5G mobile coverage as more 5G sites are turned on, helping the community to stay better connected.”
Optus was recognised by Opensignal as the provider with the fastest average 5G mobile network download speed for the seventh consecutive time and the most consistent network quality. We are proud to continue investing in our award-winning network and strengthening connectivity for communities like Whittlesea.
Customers, businesses, and communities will benefit from Optus’s plans to accelerate its 5G roll-out in the regions, fast-tracking the number of 5G sites in regional Australia to 1,500 by the end of 2028 and 2,444 by the end of 2030.
