THE Macedon Ranges Basketball Association (MRBA) continues to make its mark on the Victorian basketball scene, with outstanding performances from its junior representative teams at the Junior Country Championships.
Over the weekend, MRBA’s Under 16 Boys and Girls teams competed fiercely in Melton and Bacchus Marsh, proudly representing the region against some of the best teams in country Victoria. Both teams showcased their development and teamwork, putting in strong performances across the tournament weekend.
Their efforts follow the success of the MRBA Under 18 Boys, who competed in the Junior Country Championships in Bendigo in February. The MRBA Under 18 Boys were runners-up against Ballarat in their Grand Final, in what was described by Basketball Victoria as ‘a nail-biting overtime showdown, making for the perfect championship finale.’
MRBA Secretary Mel Rollinson praised the teams for their commitment and sportsmanship.
“Our Under 16 squads have put in an amazing effort this weekend,” she said.
“We are so proud of their performances at the Junior Country Championships. It’s fantastic to see our players competing at such a high level and representing the Macedon Ranges with pride.”
This year, the association is celebrating 40 years and continues to grow, with junior development and representative basketball providing young athletes with opportunities to improve their skills and compete at elite levels. The Under 14 Boys and Girls teams will be playing in JCC in Ballarat on April 5–7 and Under 12 Boys and Girls in Bendigo April 11–13.
