THREE local suburbs now have access to vending machines offering free tampons and pads.
Epping, Lalor, and Thomastown have recently been listed as locations that now boast the State Government initiative, which is backed by a $23 million investment into free women’s healthcare.
The Stage One rollout will see a total of 50 machines installed across Melbourne, with 25 more to come. As part of the wider program, each local government area will have machines installed in a minimum of four locations.
Additional stages will see the rollout of more than 1400 machines at up to 700 sites across the whole of Victoria.
The Epping vending machine is located at Northern Hospital Epping, 185 Cooper Street, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Lalor vending machine is located at Lalor Library, 2A May Road, and is open Monday to Thursday, 9am–8.30pm, Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 10am–5pm, and Sunday 1pm–5pm.
The Thomastown Library vending machine is located at 52 Main Street, Thomastown, and is open Monday to Thursday, 9am–8.30pm, Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 10am–5pm, and closed on Sundays.
