The North Central Review is an independently owned newspaper publishing company based in Kilmore that is responsible for publishing two community newspapers each week, covering communities within the Mitchell Shire

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) recently released its new boundaries, following a federal electoral redistribution that decreased the number of electorates in Victoria due to lower-than-expected population growth.

For Mitchell Shire residents, this means that the area from the southern end of the Bylands locality boundary going north, including Kilmore, will be redistributed into the electorate of Nicholls for the first time since the creation of the seat of McEwen.

Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell said it was odd not to represent the people of Kilmore anymore.

“It will feel very strange not having the Kilmore community in McEwen,” he said.

“It’s been an area I have enjoyed representing, and there are some outstanding organisations and people in the area who have been absolutely fantastic to work with and represent.

“This decision by the AEC will take effect as of the next election, which sadly means Kilmore residents will be forced to go to Shepparton to attend the office of their Federal MP.”

The redistribution re-establishes the entire Mernda locality within McEwen, while the Wollert locality is now fully included in the Scullin electorate. Additionally, McEwen will welcome the Kalkallo locality.
