In a spirited contest, the all-abilities basketball team, the Goorbils, faced off against The Breakers in Benalla last month at Benalla Basketball Stadium.
Though the Goorbils came up short, the game highlighted the side’s resilience and the emerging camaraderie that drives their hunger for growth and future success.
Captained by Lucas Wilmot, The Goorbils—who are part of the Nexus Primary Health’s Healthy Kids Mitchell program—took to the court with pride, showing strong form at both the start and the finish.
Wilmot’s leadership was instrumental in maintaining the team’s morale and focus, inspiring a sense of unity that will fuel the side’s continued development.
As a disability-led team, the Goorbils partnerships with Valley Sports, Goulburn Valley Gangarru Parasports, and Nexus Primary Health is crucial to the team’s mission of fostering inclusivity and providing opportunities for athletes of all abilities.
Now, after the valuable lessons learnt from their match against the Breakers, the Goorbils are determined to train, improve, and sharpen their skills for future competitions, ready to continue to develop as a unified and determined team.
