Kilmore Wallan RSL Sub-Branch has been awarded Federal funding under the Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) Grants Program.
The BEST Grants Program under the Australian Government supports ex-service organisations in providing advocacy services to veterans and their families – ensuring veterans receive the support and recognition they deserve.
The $15,000 plus in funding will be directed towards enhancing the capabilities of the Kilmore Wallan RSL Sub-Branch, allowing it to offer comprehensive support and advocacy services, including assistance with compensation claims, mental health support, and wellbeing services.
Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell said the program would allow the RSL to keep delivering its crucial work.
“Our veterans have made immense sacrifices for our country, and it is our duty to ensure they receive the highest level of care and respect,” he said.
“Through the BEST program, the Australian Government assists ex-service organisations in delivering vital compensation and wellbeing advocacy, and support services to veterans and their families.
“This grant will enable the Kilmore Wallan RSL Sub-Branch Advocacy Centre of Excellence to continue its crucial work in advocating for the rights and well-being of those who have served our country.”
Kilmore Wallan RSL Sub-Branch Secretary Daniel Burford welcomed the funding, and thanked Mr Mitchell for his continued support for the veteran community in the McEwen electorate.
“These funds will ease some of the financial shortfalls of our service while at the same time, increase our efficiency,” he said.
“The Centre of Excellence aims to directly alleviate adversity in the lives of currently servicing and ex-service ADF personnel, and their families who require assistance because of the impact of their service to our great nation.”
