Residents can now get their hands on City of Whittlesea’s new digital waste and recycling vouchers, which will make it easy to access vouchers on a smartphone or digital device.

Waste and recycling vouchers were previously only available to property owners by showing a copy of their rates notice when disposing of waste at the local facilities.

But with vouchers now digital, renters can also access them for the first time, making waste disposal more accessible for everyone in the municipality.

City of Whittlesea Chief Executive Craig Lloyd was excited to launch the digital vouchers for residents.

“Waste and recycling vouchers assist all residents to easily dispose of their waste, helping to reduce the amount of illegal dumping of rubbish around our community,” he said.

“We are pleased to make this service more accessible to our community and to expand it to include those who are renting their property. This is the first of a suite of processes that Council is moving online to enable people to access what they need at a time that suits them.

“People will soon be able to log in to our customer portal to complete a range of transactions.”

Each household has access to one subsidised general waste discount voucher to drop off general waste at the Hanson Landfill in Wollert, with the $30 fee payable at the facility.

Additionally, there are four vouchers available to drop off green waste for free at the Repurpose It facility in Epping, four vouchers to drop off timber offcuts and timber waste for free at EcoDynamics in Epping, and two vouchers to drop off waste such as asphalt, rock, and concrete again at Repurpose It Epping.

To access vouchers online, visit www.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/wastevouchers.

For residents who would still like a hard copy or need support accessing the vouchers, visit Council’s Customer Service centres at South Morang or Whittlesea, or contact 9217 2170.
