Bookworms, casual readers, and all those in between – now is the time to suit up in your finest pyjamas as QBD Books launches its ‘Grow Into A Reader’ campaign this July.

Raising funds for The Pyjama Foundation, a charity that matches volunteers to foster children to provide weekly care and help with learning-based activities, the campaign will seek to support Australia’s lowest-performing educational group.

QBD Book staff members will also be joining in on the fundraising efforts, driving awareness of National Pyjama Day on Friday, July 19, by donning their fluffiest robes, cosiest flannelettes, and best (or most ridiculous) slippers in support.

Chief Executive of Penguin Random House Australia and New Zealand Julie Burland welcomed the fundraising efforts, stating education and storytelling were key values of the publishing house.

“At Penguin Random House, we believe in the power of storytelling and education, and through this collaboration, we aim to provide support and educational resources to children in need,” she said.

“Together we can foster a love for reading, improve literacy, and empower them to dream big.

“We are proud to support this meaningful initiative and look forward to the positive change we can create together.”

All 87 QBD Books store locations across Australia, including Plenty Valley and Epping, will take part in the month-long festivities, with $1 donated to the foundation for select Penguin Random House book sales.

With special deals across the month, and a buy-one-get-one-half-price offer on select Penguin Random House children’s titles, now is also the perfect time to expand children’s libraries, while helping those in need.

QBD Books Chief Executive Nicholas Croydon was excited about the campaign, stating it was important to get children reading young and early.

“Planting a seed to help grow the next generation of book lovers is so important to us,” he said.

“Reading books can open a world of opportunities for kids – be it to learn, explore, or escape.

“Supporting The Pyjama Foundation in partnership with Penguin Random House and their incredible authors is the perfect way to spark this enjoyment.”
