The Mitchell Rangers Football Club Under 12s Gold showcased their brilliant soccer skills at the weekend, under the guidance of coach Duncan Freemantle at their home pitch at Pinniger St, Broadford.

The boys dominated from the first kick, with Lewis Kovatsis scoring the first goal within two minutes from the start of the game. Kovatsis then went on to score the second goal after Epping had a throw off from the sideline that he intercepted, then took up on the left wing to shoot and score. His back-to-back goals set the momentum for the first half, with another two goals kicked by Kalle Saunders and Brendan Lay, assisted by Henry Owen.

The second half showed the same level of skill with another four goals scored by Kalle Saunders off an assist from Zayden McLaren, with Ethan Kelly scoring two and Hunter Freemantle kicking off an awesome penalty kick.

Epping City played a great defensive game with multiple attempts at goals, but goalkeeper Lochlin De Guara walked away with a clean sheet. De Guara had an epic save catching the ball off an Epping penalty kick that went over the Ranger’s defensive wall. This earned him Man of the Match, despite him taking a save well outside the goal box that resulted in another penalty awarded to Epping that he then went on to block.

Overall, the team showed great enthusiasm and skill, and cemented their number one position on the ladder with honourable mentions to Tristan Glasson, Mason Cash, and Lexden Coleman contributing to a further 22 attempts at goals.
