The Honourable Amanda Rishworth, the Minister for Social Services, has led a round table discussion addressing the cost-of-living crisis and ground-level realities faced by local communities in the Wallan, Kilmore, and Whittlesea areas.
Key stakeholders from volunteer agencies Love In Action Wallan, Freedom Care Wallan and Kilmore, and the Whittlesea Community House were present at the meeting and offered critical insight into the ever-growing demand for food relief services.
Minister Rishworth emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that address essential needs.
Speaking on current economic challenges, Federal Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell stated that the cost-of-living crisis is a ‘significant concern’.
“It requires a collaborative effort at all levels to ensure that essential services like food relief are accessible to those in need.
“The dedication and hard work of our volunteer agencies plays an important role in supporting communities during challenging times.
“The work done by these agencies is invaluable, and it’s essential we listen to their experiences and work together to find effective solutions,” he said.
