City of Whittlesea residents are now able to assess the energy efficiency of their homes at no cost, with four new home energy audit kits supplied to local libraries across the municipality.
Each energy kit contains a Power-Mate Lite and infrared thermal imaging camera which can be used to assess the energy, cost, and greenhouse gases emitted in residents’ homes.
The Power-Mate Lite also allows users to view key values per hour, week, quarter, and year, giving residents the ability to estimate their annual consumption and cost with ease.
City of Whittlesea chief executive Craig Lloyd said the kits would help locals make small changes that result in positive impacts.
“Our goal is to empower our community to make informed decisions about their energy usage and help them make changes that lead to more sustainable homes and cost-savings. With these kits freely and conveniently available to borrow through our local libraries, it’s easy for our community to take control of their energy efficiency,” Mr Lloyd said.
To borrow a home energy audit kit, residents can visit their local Yarra Plenty Regional Library.
