FEDERAL Member for McEwen Rob Mitchell will welcome assistant treasurer Stephen Jones to the McEwen electorate for an anti-scam forum on August 30.
The forum aims to equip people with the tools and knowledge needed to protect themselves from scams and fraudulent activities, providing valuable insights into recognising scams, understanding their tactics and knowing how to respond effectively if targeted.
Mr Mitchell said the forum intended to empower individuals.
“In today’s digital age, scams and fraudulent schemes have become increasingly sophisticated, preying on unsuspecting individuals and causing financial and emotional distress,” he said.
“This forum is an initiative to empower the community by educating them about the various forms of scams and the ways to safeguard against them.”
The event, on Wednesday, August 30, will be at Wallan Multi-Purpose Community Centre, 42-80 Bentinck Street, Wallan.
People are encouraged to arrive at 3.45pm for a 4pm start, with conclusion at 5.15pm.
Organisers encourage people to RSVP by 12pm on August 28 via email at ged.kunkel@aph.gov.au.
