Two Kilmore senior netball sides have made it to the grand final in the Northern Football Netball League, NFNL.

The Kilmore 2 side will play Diamond Creek in the NFNL section six grand final on Friday, after finishing top of the ladder this season and defeating Epping in the semi-final.

Diamond Creek finished third, but with the top three positions decided by percentage, it was a close race to the finish and the grand final is set to be a competitive match.

Kilmore 4 will play Lower Plenty 1 in the NFNL section nine grand final.

The Blues beat the Lower Plenty side, 23 goals to 15, in the semi-finals with two seven-goal quarters proving to be the decider in the victory.

Netball coordinator, coach of the Kilmore 2 side and Kilmore Football Netball Club secretary Kristy Fowler said the Friday night competitions were evenly graded so it was hard to work out who would make it to the grand final during the season.

“Division wise every match is a really difficult one. All games have been quite competitive all the way through the season so they’ve actually been really difficult games throughout the season,” she said.

“That’s one thing that’s really good about this league – that the games are so competitive each week, it’s really tough trying to work out who’s going to win because it’s all pretty close.

“Even with section six it came down to percentage to decide who will play finals.

“The teams that are in the grand final are both actually really good and it’ll be a really friendly match on Friday – obviously competitive – but it’ll be a very good game to watch.”

Kilmore 7 also made a finals appearance, making it to the preliminary final on Friday, losing by 14 goals to Hurstbridge 6, which ended the side’s finals campaign.
