Mitchell Shire Council has announced changes to Seymour Youth Room, with the centre now open on Tuesdays.
Seymour Youth Room is a fun, safe, inclusive space for young people aged 12 to 18.
Youths can stay active with a teen fitness program, relax, grab a snack, listen to music, challenge their friends or staff to a board game, or get creative using a range of art supplies.
The new room will replace Broadford Youth Room’s Tuesday session, meaning there are now youth room activities in Broadford on Mondays, Seymour on Tuesdays, and Wallan on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Seymour Youth Room is in the front room at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre, Chittick Park, Pollard Street, Seymour. The room is open from 3.30pm to 5pm on Tuesdays during school terms.
Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm said the youth rooms were run by Mitchell Youth Services and everything was provided free, including snacks.
“Keeping young people engaged and active is an important part of their development,” he said.
“The growth of our shire means there are more young people are looking for safe, inclusive and engaging spaces to hang out with their friends and enjoy different activities.
“This new youth room serves an important purpose in Seymour and I know it will be an asset to the community.”
