Tess and Audrey with the outdoor cinema event signs advertising movie nights in Seymour, Wallan and Broadford in autumn.

Autumn movie nights under the stars will take place in Seymour, Wallan and Broadford in coming months.

The series of events is funded by a partnership between Mitchell Shire Council and the State Government.

The family-friendly events encourage residents to pack a picnic and a blanket for a night of free entertainment.

The Seymour movie night will be at Goulburn Park on Saturday, April 23 featuring Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Mamma Mia will play at the Wallan event on Saturday, April 30 at Hadfield Park; and Sing 2 will be the movie at Broadford’s Lions Park on Saturday, May 7.

The series of outdoor events will feature roaming entertainment, food stalls and a feature film on the big screen. Entertainment and food stalls will be available from 5pm with the movie beginning at 6.30pm.

Organisers encourage people to buy dinner from a local takeaway provider in the township or some treats from one of the food stalls at the events.

There will be limited seating and shelter, so picnic rugs or camping chairs are encouraged, as are blankets and coats.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Bill Chisholm thanked the State Government for their support.

“Events have been few and far between during the COVID-19 pandemic and we’re excited to have them back,” he said.

“These events are a great chance to enjoy a night out with the family and support local hospitality providers.”

The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions have teamed up with council to provide the free events as part of Mitchell Shire’s ongoing recovery from COVID-19 restrictions.

If there is poor weather, this event will be rescheduled. Updates will be provided on the Discover Mitchell Facebook page.
