The Federal Government has announced funding for the Beveridge Interstate Freight Terminal, BIFT, in the 2022-23 Budget.
Senator for Victoria Greg Mirabella said the Federal Government would provide $1.62 billion for the BIFT and $280 million for road connection upgrades, including Camerons Lane interchange.
The government will also provide $740 million for the Western Interstate Freight Terminal, WIFT, in Truganina and $920 million for the Outer Metropolitan Ring, OMR, Rail South connection.

Mr Mirabella said the projects would make roads safer, reduce travel times and boost the economy.
“The Federal Government’s record infrastructure investment pipeline continues to deliver better outcomes for the people of Victoria,” he said.
“Investing in infrastructure upgrades ensures we are planning for a better future, giving locals the roads and services they need and deserve.
“These funding commitments will create jobs, boost business investment, and drive our economic recovery.
“$3.1 billion in new commitments towards the Melbourne Intermodal Terminal Package is key to transforming Australia’s freight and rail networks.”
More to come.
Excellent news; even better is the WIFT in Truganina is progressing along with BIFT/Donnybrook, plus the interchange. Makes sense combining the construction/project
