Macedon Ranges Shire Council develops Romsey structure plan

Popular Stories

MACEDON Ranges Shire Council is seeking community feedback to help shape the long term future of Romsey and develop a new Romsey Structure Plan.

Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the purpose of developing the new plan was to ensure levels of development were consistent with the role of the town and took into considerations infrastructure provision and environmental constraints.

Romsey, under current policy, is planned to fulfil the role of a ‘large district town’.

“This round of consultation is aimed at further identifying and confirming protection of the positive elements of the township and builds on the feedback provided in response to the Romsey Issue and Opportunities Paper of 2018,” Cr Anderson said.

“A new structure plan in Romsey will provide certainty to landowners, community, business, referral authorities and other regulators and stakeholders.”

Consultation on the plan began on February 21 and will run for six weeks.

An emerging options paper has also been prepared to help inform community discussions.

To submit feedback, people can read the emerging options paper and then complete an online survey or participate in a face-to-face or online community information session.

Face-to-face pop-up sessions was on February 28 and another will be held on March 16, from 11am to 1pm at Romsey Community Hub.

An online session from 7pm to 9pm on March 8 will includes a webinar presentation and an opportunity to ask questions.

Consultation closes on April 1. To receive project updates, register at www.mrsc.vic.gov.au/romsey-plan or call 5422 0333.
