FAMILIES in Gisborne will soon have access to new facilities, with work underway to upgrade Gisborne Primary School.

Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas last week visited the construction site at the Gisborne school, which is set to undergo a $10 million upgrade.

The upgrade will see a new competition-grade gymnasium and administration building, as well as the refurbishment of learning areas and playground facilities.

Works are expected to be completed by mid-2021.

Upgrades are also taking place at New Gisborne Primary School, Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School in Bullengarook, and St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School.

A new school and kindergarten will also be built in the south of Gisborne, set to open in 2022.

Ms Thomas said the upgrade to Gisborne Primary School was exciting for families, who would see a benefit from the new facilities, including a much-needed competition-sized gymnasium.

“These works at Gisborne primary are part of a school building boom that’s not only happening right here in Gisborne and the Macedon Ranges, but across Victoria,” she said.
