MACEDON Ranges residents are invited to give feedback on the concept design for the Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Precinct.
The Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Precinct will be spread across two interconnected sites in New Gisborne, at the corner of Barringo and Hamilton roads.
It will provide community facilities for sport, health and fitness activities and events.
The project is being designed to ensure it can be delivered in stages aligned with the amount of funding available.
Macedon Ranges Shire Council, the State Government and AFL Victoria have committed a total of $21.7 million to the project.
The funds will allow completion of the design and the first stage of construction. It was originally estimated the complete project would cost $41.4 million
The designs will be released via webinar at 7pm on Thursday, during which council officers will give an update on the project and design consultants City Collective will talk through the design.
After the webinar, designs will be available on council website along with answers to questions asked during the presentation.
Council chief executive Margot Stork said the precinct, council’s largest building project, would cater for a range of sports and recreational pursuits, while also attracting regional-level competition.
“The concept is being refined based on the previous feasibility studies, and guided by feedback from primary user groups, state sport associations and the Macedon Ranges community,” Ms Stork said.
“Although in-person forums and public meetings are not possible at this time, council is committed to delivering this important project with vital community input.
“We encourage all residents and community members to view the concept plans online and provide feedback by attending the community presentation, filling out the online survey or contacting council by email, letter or by phone.”
