Homes and businesses flooded in Kilmore

A thunderstorm brought torrential rain to Kilmore last Friday afternoon, flooding homes and businesses.

Kilmore SES unit attended 19 calls for assistance, 16 from within Kilmore itself, following more than 15 mm of rain at about 3.30pm.

There were nearly 50 calls for assistance across the north-east region, with 22 coming for fallen trees and 16 for flooding.

The North Central Review offices in Sydney Street Kilmore were affected by the flooding, cutting out power and damaging equipment.

The Review’s general manager Lauren Duffy said the flooding entered from the rear of the building, affecting about 75 per cent of the office.

“Fortunately, archives of the Review and Kilmore Free Press were saved before flooding reached them,” she said.

“However several pieces of equipment, carpets and cupboards were damaged.

“We are are waiting on the carpet to be replaced so our office still looks a little messy.

“We apologise to our customers for any delays with printing products due to the flood.”

Ms Duffy thanked all staff and contractors who assisted in the flood clean-up and Kilmore SES for attending.
