Broadford proved they could compete with some of the Riddell District Football Netball League’s best, if momentarily, in an 80-point loss to Rupertswood at home on Saturday.
A hot start saw the Kangaroos kick three of the game’s first four goals as Broadford led at quarter time 5.0 (30) to 4.3 (27).
The Sharks recovered from the shock start to hold Broadford scoreless in the second term and kick 4.5 (29) to take a 26-point lead into half-time.
The Kangaroos got back on the right path, kicking two third-quarter goals but the Sharks pushed on to kick another five goals and take a 45-point lead.
Rupertswood piled on another six goals to one in the final term to run away with the win.
Broadford remain at ninth of the RDFNL ladder, two games behind Woodend Hesket and ahead of Lancefield on percentage.
The Kangaroos take on Rockbank away next week.
