WHITTLESEA Men’s Shed have recently collaborated with the Melbourne French Theatre Inc (MFT) at Carlton North to build the set for MFT’s highly successful season playing “Save our Savings” by well-known French writer Jean-Pierre Martinez. The play, a tragicomedy, was produced by Michel Bula and directed by Paul Wanis.
Whittlesea Men’s Shed was pleased to provide the materials, construction and onsite installation of part of a fishing trawler that was the scene for the entire 90-minute production.
Michel Bula said the set added to the overall success of the play being the set for the entire play, and that MFT was grateful for WMS’s assistance.
“We look forward to collaboration with WMS next year for our 50th anniversary,” he said.
President of the WMS Eric Gunstone said it was an exciting time.
“Collaborating with other charities and community-based organisations is part of the WMS’s raison d’être, and this is the second time that WMS has worked with a small theatre to construct a set. We look forward to doing this again in the future,” he said.
