MITCHELL Shire Council will continue to monitor the management of waste volumes for households with children in nappies for at least another month, with a decision on the matter deferred at last Monday night’s Council meeting.

The original report was prepared in response to the 12-month review of kerbside transition in Council, which was previously endorsed in the May council meeting.

Council was recommended to note information and support the delivery of education programs and materials to help support households with children in nappies, while also continuing to deliver the four-bin kerbside service, staying in keeping with policy and contract arrangements.

However, Councillor Andrea Pace moved to defer the recommendation, saying there was more information that came forward that would require further consideration.

“We’ve had some further financial information come forward, that I would like the Council to have time to go through and make an informed decision,” she said.

The deferral vote was carried, with seven councillors voting for, and Cr Timothy Hanson the sole vote against.
