A nine-event program was held at Kilmore last Thursday making a night of interesting racing.

New Gisborne father and son Darren and Riley Pace opened the night by taking the 2180-metre OKRFM Pace with 4YO Betting Line-Dreams In Heaven gelding Blazin By in a two-minute mile rate.

Raced by Darren and father Vic, Blazin By settled three back in the moving line from gate five as polemarker Archaa led before gaining a three-wide trail on the back of Whats Glenda Got into the final bend and when eased to the centre of the track on turning, finished best to prevail by a half neck from Archaa, with My Beautiful Life (gate four – three pegs) third a metre back.

The La Dimora Retirement Trotters Mobile over 2180 metres saw Kilmore trainer Julie Mifsud’s 8YO Peak-Mother Nature gelding Little Tedey return to the winners list for the first time in 12 months.

Trapped outside the leader from the pole Playa Del Carmen as the mobile pulled away, Little Tedey applied plenty of pressure to cross and take over entering the back straight on the first occasion and after dictating terms to a nicety, registered a 1.4 metre margin over Money Talks, with Playa Del Carmen using the sprint lane for thid a half neck away. The mile rate was 2.05.6.

Former Kilmore resident Corey Bell, now based at Nagambie, snared the O’Briens Electrical Pace over 1690 metres with Major Maurie, a 5YO Art Major-Jazz Opera mare.

Trained and driven by Corey, Major Maurie led throughout from gate two and after looking in trouble approaching the final bend, rallied on turning to score by 3.3 metres in advance of Miki Mark (one/one from inside the second line) which eased three-wide on the home turn. Arraps after racing exposed from the extreme draw was third 4.4 metres back. The mile rate was 1.59.7.

Tooleen trainer Alby Ashwood employed the services of Bendigo based Ellen Tormey aboard 3YO Vincent-Rozelski gelding Imon to land the 1690-metre Kilmore Ford Maiden Pace, leading throughout from gate two in defeating Elliana which trailed from the pole by 2.6 metres, with Tarzina (gate four) a tough third, a head away after racing exposed.The mile rate was 1.59.

Most reliable 7YO A Rocknroll Dance-Joys Underworld gelding Clymenus, trained by Strathfieldsaye’s Juied Douglas and driven by Jack Laugher, was a deserved winner of the 2180-metre Broadstead Kilmore Pace after dropping back from metropolitan class.

Trailing the poleline leader Telern Lofty, Clymenus starting inside the second line received a charmed passage and always looked the one to beat. When much-travelled Springfield Affair (gate six) moved from three back in the running line to race outside the pacemaker, Clymenus, travelling beautifully, used the sprint lane to perfection to record only a neck margin over a game Springfield Affair, with Hitch To His Star running on late for third 3.5 metres back. Telern Lofty after being given every chance by Liam Older faded in the straight to finish a disappointing fifth. The mile rate was 2.00.8.

Smart 4YO gelding The Best Madrik-Bohemian Queen gelding Farrokh trained at Riddell by Chris Lang and Sonia Mahar landed the JC Windows Trotters Mobile over 2180 metres in fine style.

Driven by Chris, Farrokh enjoyed a cosy passage one/one from gate five as polemarker Skybella led before being headed off by Rarity Rock (outside the front line) before immediately retaking the lead. Easing three-wide approaching the final bend, Farrokh finished his race off well to blouse Slybella by a half neck in a 2.03.2 mile rate. Aldebaran Zane (three pegs from a solo second line draw – one/one on turning) flashed late for third a head away.

Bannockburn owner/trainer/driver Peter Fiscalini’s smart Century Farron-Carmel Tojo Farroh Joe was victorious in the 1690-metre MC Labour 2YO Pace.

Fast away from gate two, Farroh Joe led throughout to account for Rockleigh Legacy (gate four – one/one – three wide home turn) which switched down to the sprint lane on turning, with Smoken Heaven third 1.2 metres back after trailing the winner. The mile rate was 1.59.4.

Bolinda trainer Brent Lilley snared the quinella in the C & M Build Group Trotters Mobile over 1690 metres with 3YO Propulsion-Mystic Host gelding Brother Mountain defeating Cartacalha and Fritsch.

Deiven by John Caldow, Brothrer Mountain went forward from gate five to race outside the leader Chantilly Lass which flew the start from gate four to lead. Despite doing all of the woirk Brother Mountain outstayed his rivals to score by 3.2 metres over Cartacalha along the sprint lane after trailing the weakening pacemaker, with Fritsch (three pegs from gate six) flashing late for third 1.2 metres away. The mile rate was 2.00.1.

Ardmona part-owner/trainer Donna Castles and partner Doc Wilson who also owns a share in Quaker Jet-Ready To Shine filly Amira, the winner of the Picklebet ‘Get Your Pickle On’ 3YO Maiden Pace over 1690 metres, would have been delighted with the victory.

Driven by Doc, Amira, making her race debut, was given the run of the race from gate two trailing the polemarker and hot favourite War Dan Phoenix. Easing to the outside prior to the home turn and putting pressure on the favourite, the pair raced head and head to the wire with Amira gaining the judges nod by a half head in a tricky finish. Pardray (three pegs from gate four) was third 9.4 metres back. The mile rate was 2.07.6.
