LOOK OUT as Broadford’s inaugural women’s cricket team snapped up another win on Sunday at Harley Hammond for Round 12.

Usually a T20 match, 30 overs were scheduled so the teams had extra time to focus on their techniques, and Broadford won the toss and chose to chase Lancefield Yellow.

Lancefield’s Emily Consiglio was at her best early on the pitch when she made 48 runs to help her side reach 91 at the close of their innings.

Melodie Bassett came to play taking two important wickets, 1/13 and 4/80.

In between captain Brooke Jefferey unloaded at 3/75.

It was impressive fielding when Jessica Budd ran out Emma Donnellon just as she was getting warmed up (14) and even more so after the break when Ellanor Carboon’s hat trick in the 20th sealed Lancefield’s fate, 6/91, 7/91 and 8/91.

In the batting Jefferey and Phillipa Skala faced the Tigers fast bowlers with finesse. However, in between the Tigers looked menacing Molly caught out Melodie Bassett 1/10 and later Jo-Ann Booth 3/20.

Broadford stayed grounded through the damage as Jeffereys’ 32 runs and Skalas’ 29 created an energetic partnership that helped Broadford win the chase and also take their first win over Lancefield Yellow, 3/93 to 8/91.

Around the pitches, East Sunbury defeated Melton at Blackwood Reserve, 3/84 to 7/67.

In A Grade, Wallan won by forfeit as Kilmore could not field a side, and the Blues have declared their 2026 season over.

Macedon defeated Gisborne at Gardiner Reserve, 4/157 to 9/133 and Bacchus Marsh defended their home turf against Lancefield Black at Maddingley Oval, 1/98 to 4/97.

Round 13 promises some big action and some travel.

Wallan plays at Macedon who have just one win this season, so its 2nd on the ladder playing 5th.

Gisborne and Lancefield meet at Tony Clarke, third against fourth, and Broadford travel to play East Sunbury, so its third on the ladder against last.
