OUR Lady of the Way Primary School brought in the French celebrations school-wide last Wednesday, putting together its annual Bastille Day celebration.

The day was built around the school’s French program, with students dressed up in French-inspired clothing or French colours – blue, white and red.

French-based activities were also a big part of the day, with Eiffel Towers built from everyday materials, French crowns created, petanque games, baguette races and French quizzes.

SERVING EXCELLENCE: Michael and Nola from La Petite Creperie served the students with their crepe van.

As part of the day, La Petite Creperie also set up a crepe van, with students ordering crepes in French, using their language skills in a real-life setting, and bringing to a head weeks of classroom learning into practice.

The school’s French program has also seen a big achievement, with students Faith Dias and Scarlett Thompson reaching the finals of the Berthe Mouchette French Poetry competition, with the results celebrated in October.
