KILMORE raced again last Wednesday, July 22 with an eight-race program which attracted plenty of attention.
The Picklebet ‘Get Your Pickle On’ Pace over 2180 metres opened proceedings and it was the Monegeetta combination of David Miles (trainer) and Nick Beale (driver) successful when 3YO American Ideal-Izzy Jolie gelding Mason Jolie saluted the judge.
Settling six back in the moving line from gate two on the second line as speedy gelding Hurrikane Dusty led from gate four, Mason Jolie gained a lovely three-wide trail home in the last lap following both Good Day (gate six – one/three) and Bettor Punter from outside the front line after Our Sweet Jeanne (gate three second line) had gone forward mid-race to park outside the pacemaker.
Easing to the centre of the track on turning, Mason Jolie ran home strongly to prevail by 2.6 metres from Better Punter who was far from disgraced, with Our Sweet Jeannie battling on strongly for third 3.4 metres back. The mile rate was 1.57.5.
Wallan duo Ruth Shinn and son Chris snared a double on the night when 7YO A Rocknroll Dance-Shes Pinkalicious gelding Archaa raced by Noel Shinn and Carl O’Dwyer brought up his tenth success when taking the Reg Shinn Memorial Pace over 1690 metres – Reg being Noel’s father.
Beginning swiftly from gate five as the mobile gate pulled away to cross the leader Treacherous Times (gate six) and lead, Archaa ran his rivals ragged to record a mile rate of 1.55.9. Winning by 9.4 metres 4 metres in advance of Elleegant Lane (gate three – three pegs) and polemarker Standanddeliver (four pegs) who was 3.9 metres away third.
The team then landed the 2180 metre Jack Knight Memorial 3YO Maiden Pace with improving Poster Boy-Shishi gelding Takao raced by Ruth and Noel in a family affair, leading throughout from the pole easily accounting for first starter The Sparkler which trailed from gate two in a 2.02.1-mile rate. Glenange Miss (gate three – three pegs) was third. The margins 9.7 by 1.2 metres.
The Bill Harding Memorial Graduation Series 3YO & Older Trotters Mobile over 1690 metres saw Merideth co-trainers Emmett & (father) Richard Brosnan victorious with Mister Devereaux, a 3YO gelded son of Majestic Son and Lola Devereaux.
Driven by Emmett, Mister Devereaux led throughout from outside the front line to score easily by 6.1 metres from Reverand Bob (gate two second line one/two – one/one), with Tammy Whiz (gate five – one three) third 3.1 metres back after a bad beginning. The mile rate was 1.59.9.
Bolinda trainer Brent Lilley, never far away from the winners list at Kilmore meetings, was victorious in the MC Labour Trotters Mobile over 1690 metres with 4YO Father Patrick-Kyvalley Topcat mare Kyvalley Jenny in a mile rate of 2.00.5.
Driven by record breaker Chris Alford, Kyvalley Jenny led throughout from the pole to score by 2.5 metres over Moonshine Louie (gate five) which trailed using the sprint lane and Brooklyngotcourage (gate six – four pegs) who was 2.3 metres away third.
Cardigan co-trainers Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin landed the Coulter Legal Graduation Series 3Y0 & Older Pace (second heat) over 1690 metres with 4Y0 Always Hot-Fususi gelding The Last Trip driven by Taylor Ford who was another to lead throughout from gate six, defeating Aussie Jay Mac (four pegs from inside the second line), with Sriracha coming from last along the markers for third after being restrained from outside the front line. The margins 25.8 by 6.9 metres in a slashing mile rate of 1.54.9.
Local Kilmore reinsman Josh Duggan was successful aboard Kilmore trainer Thomas Parnell’s 5YO Always B Miki-Dolly Jasper gelding Miki Mark in the Don Dove Memorial Vicbred Voucher Pace over 2180 metres.
Settling four back in the moving line from an inside second line draw, Miki Mark did a good job after going forward three wide in the last lap to outstay runner up Ima Ballerina (gate four) which trailed the weakening leader Elli Joh (gate three) and win by 4.7 metres. Blue Ocean (gate two – three pegs) was third 1.4 metres back. The mile rate was 2.01.
Popular Balliang/Bacchus Marsh owner/trainer/driver Robert Young snared all of the spoils in the C&M Build Group Trotters Mobile when 7YO Danny Bouchea-Kilmainham gelding Scar led all of the way from gate three, free-wheeling out in front to run out a 1.2 metre victor from Buslin Brody (gate two – three pegs – one/one home turn – three wide in straight). Life On The Hill (restrained from outside the front line to be four pegs) was third 9.7 metres away. It was Scar’s 16th success in 88 outings returning a 2.03.3 mile rate.
