TEMPORARY road closures, night works and changes to traffic conditions will follow across Broadford and Wandong as Inland Rail carries out rail and road upgrades.
Beveridge to Albury Project Director Russell Hamilton said a large volume of work will be carried out in Broadford and Wandong, starting today.
The community will see some crews working around the clock to complete these works as quickly and safely as possible.
Mitchell Shire residents, businesses and road users are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow the traffic management directions while the essential works are done.
The areas impacted are:
Short Street in Broadford will have overnight bridge closures from 8pm to 5am, from today to Thursday, March 26, to allow crews to install permanent bridge barriers and complete bridge works.
Hamilton Street, Broadford, will be closed from 7pm on Friday, March 27, to 7am on Monday, March 30. The road will later remain closed for three additional nights from 8pm to 5am from Monday, March 30, to Thursday, April 2. Both lanes of traffic will open on the new bridge for the first time on April 2.
The new Broadford-Wandong Road bridge in Wandong is set for a partial reopening in mid-April. in the meantime it’s operating under a single‑lane shuttle flow arrangement.
Rail Street, Wandong, will be closed for about 10 weeksfrom mid‑April, following the opening of the new bridge. The closure supports the construction of a new roundabout at the Broadford-Wandong Road intersection.
“We are committed to minimising disruptions wherever we can,” Mr Hamilton said.
