ON the weekend Fishing for Mental health was impacted by an undetermined closure of the Coliban Reservoir and the event’s location was changed to Lauriston Reserve.
Organiser Jack Bamford was able to reschedule the event at the last minute after advice that there was a drowning in the reservoir and it would not be open to the public until the body was found.
Despite the tragedy, the live music, barbeque and fishing went ahead.
Trying his luck, Wallan resident Con Simos won first prize as he caught the largest fish. Jack said: It was a 65cm yellowbelly.
The bad news is that Jack needs to put off the Guiness World Record event scheduled for March as he is battling with cancer.
