THE skies may have been grey, but the chrome still gleamed at the Wallan Show and Shine, which drew crowds of enthusiasts and families despite a run of unpredictable spring weather.

Held at the Wallan Secondary College oval, the annual event once again showcased a stunning collection of classic cars, hot rods and modern marvels. Organisers were thrilled with the strong turnout, noting that the community’s passion for motoring and family fun overcame the threat of showers.
Rows of polished vehicles lined the ground, with proud owners on hand to chat about restorations, modifications and the stories behind their pride and joy. Standouts included a meticulously restored 1967 Ford Mustang fastback, a bright orange Holden Torana GTR XU-1 that drew plenty of attention from locals, and a classic Holden Monaro GTS that had fans stopping for photos. A striking candy-apple red Chevrolet Impala also proved a crowd favourite.

Local businesses and community groups added to the atmosphere with food stalls, trade displays and live entertainment. Children enjoyed rides and activities, while families made the most of the market-style stalls and community barbecue.
While a few brief rain showers passed over during the day, they did little to dampen spirits. Organisers ensured the day ran smoothly, with plenty of warm refreshments keeping the crowd comfortable. At times, the sun even broke through, giving the polished paintwork an extra sparkle.

The Show and Shine has become a highlight of the Wallan events calendar, drawing visitors from across Mitchell Shire and beyond. Organisers said planning is already underway for next year’s event, with hopes to make it even bigger.
