COMMUNITY members around the City of Whittlesea are gearing up for the 43rd edition of the Victorian Seniors Festival in October.

Running throughout October, this year’s theme, “Connect, Create and Celebrate”, emphasises the importance of bringing people together for social interaction, creativity and community participation.

It invites older Victorians to discover new hobbies, skills and interests while celebrating their important role in our community.

Over the month, participants can enjoy a wide range of activities including exercise sessions, walking football, golf, morning melodies, social lunches and more.

With something for everyone, it is a great opportunity to meet new people, stay active and celebrate life in a supportive and welcoming environment.

As a Victorian Seniors Card holder, eligible holders will also be able to explore Victoria with free travel during the festival from Sunday, October 5 to Sunday October 12.

The festival launches with an event at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre on Thursday, October 2. Guest performer Damian Mullin will delight the crowd by performing Elvis Forever, as one of Australia’s leading Elvis tribute artists, while light refreshments and connection opportunities will also be offered.

City of Whittlesea Mayor Councillor Martin Taylor said he looks forward to a big month ahead celebrating the senior community.

“Seniors are at the heart of the City of Whittlesea. They have helped shape the strong, caring and resilient community we are so proud of today, and this festival is our way of recognising and honouring their vital contribution,” he said.

“The Seniors Festival is more than a program of events, it is about connection, celebration and ensuring our older residents feel valued, included and supported. I encourage everyone to get involved and help make October a month of joy across Whittlesea.”
