THE Mitchell Rangers Soccer Club (MRSC) held their presentations on the weekend, and the family day out also featured a power outage and an ambulance.
During the ‘friendly’ parent-child soccer match, a youthful tackle saw the parent breaking an ankle.
Additionally, there was a pause for the awards presentations, as a power outage delayed the event.
When the presentations began with the littlest team, the coaches were full of praise for their players and their parents, who are also doing the hard yards in getting their children to and from training and more importantly their games. Being a country club, players travel as far as Hampton Park to compete.
The committee and the coaches were also showered with gratitude, as they co-ordinate games and events throughout the season.
In August, the All-Abilities team put the club on the map going forward, as the club won the Spirit award.
Mentor and Coach Paul Sirianni praised not just his team, but the club.
“It’s the first year Football Victoria has presented the award,” he said.
“That means everyone is welcoming, everyone is willing to say hello. There is no one that is being left out.
“You guys have made it possible for the MRSC to receive such a prestigious award, and in the first year!
“When I received that flag on behalf of the club, my eyes watered, and it is thanks to you guys, the club and everyone involved.”
The most prestigious award that is given to a single player (as determined by the committee and the players) was presented by emcee Bec Rolfe.
“I cannot be prouder to present this award,” she said.
“The award is in honour of Marcus Order. His attitude and memory inspire the community as a club. He’s determined. He’s gutsy, he puts in everything, and he helps out where he needs too.
“That award this year goes to Mark Thompson.”
