IT was an extremely successful night for both Kilmore and Broadford at the Northern Football Netball League’s night of nights, the Frank Rosbrook Medal night.
The football awards saw a great deal of success for Kilmore, with evergreen Kilmore president Leigh Irons finishing third in the division three reserves best and fairest count with 12 votes, just two behind eventual winner, Mernda’s Jake Bruni. Michael Fenech also picked up his award for leading the competition goalkicking with 58 majors for the season.
There was some success in the division three under 19.5 count, however, with the Blues’ Benjamin Doyle taking the count by one vote, scoring 17 votes to win.
In the women’s competition, Chiara Nardo took advantage of an excellent campaign up forward to finish runner-up in the best and fairest with 13 votes, 10 behind runaway victor Hailey Cordova from South Morang.
The senior men’s competition highlighted just how even Kilmore was as a group, with Mick Marrett leading the way on six votes, despite not playing after round six.
Netball saw Kilmore and Broadford share the spoils.
In section six, Chloe Talbot took the best and fairest for Kilmore, scoring 17 votes to win by four votes.
Broadford had success in section eight, with Kirbie Theuma taking a thrilling count by one vote with 17 votes.
The Kangaroos also had a winner in section 12, with Jennifer Neilson polling 13 votes to share the award with Watsonia’s Jordee Anderson.
Finally, in section 14, Kilmore’s Donna Axton took the award with 17 votes, winning by three votes.
Broadford also had a winner in the star shooter competition, with Grace Neilson scoring the most goals in section 12 with 192.
