LOCAL seniors are being encouraged to swap the armchair for the fairway this September, with a series of social golf days set to take place at the Growling Frog Golf Course in Yan Yean.
The Seniors Social Golf program promises a relaxed and welcoming environment, whether participants are seasoned players or complete beginners keen to give the sport a go. A highlight of the event is a come-and-try clinic, led by qualified golf instructors who will guide newcomers through the basics of the game while helping experienced players fine-tune their swing.
Beyond the sport itself, the program is designed to encourage social connection. After the morning session, participants can gather for lunch, unwind, and mingle with fellow golf enthusiasts, making the day as much about companionship as it is about golf.
The event is accessible to a wide range of players, with affordable fees in place. Nine holes are priced at $11.50 for Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) participants and $21 for LEAP members, while 18 holes cost $16.50 for CHSP and $31 for LEAP members. For those who prefer a little extra comfort, golf carts are available for hire at $24.
The sessions will run across multiple dates in September – Tuesday 16, Thursday 18, Tuesday 23 and Thursday, 25, giving seniors plenty of opportunities to take part.
Located at 1910 Donnybrook Road, the Growling Frog Golf Course offers a picturesque backdrop to enjoy fresh air, light exercise, and a day of social connection.
