THE State Government is continuing to support accessible and affordable healthcare in local communities by making the successful Community Pharmacist Pilot (CPP) program permanent.

The CPP has made it easier for Victorians to get treatment for common health conditions at their local pharmacy, and according to Member for Macedon and Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas, it will become an ongoing, statewide service.

“Running out of a pill prescription or needing to get treatment quickly for a UTI can be inconvenient and expensive, and that’s why we’re making it cheaper and easier for Victorian women to get the care they need,” she said.

Under the expanded program Pharmacists will continue offering services to treat UTIs, skin conditions, the resupply of oral contraceptives, and the range of vaccines treatments first introduced through the pilot.

Over the next two years, up to 22 health conditions and well-being services will be available through community pharmacies.

Most consultations will remain free, to ensure services remain accessible.

These changes are part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening primary care, reducing pressure on GPs, and improving health access across Victoria.

The following pharmacies are participating in the program.

Chemist Discount Centre in Kilmore and Wallan.

Chemist Warehouse in Kalkallo.

Romsey Chemist and Romsey Pharmacy. Wandong Pharmacy.

Woodend Pharmacy and Amcal Pharmacy in Whittlesea.
