Wandong Warriors Under 12s 2025 premiers

THE Wandong Warriors Under 12 side has etched its name into junior football history, securing the 2025 premiership with a hard-fought 8.3 (51) to 2.2 (14) victory over Broadford in wet and testing conditions.

Broadford had held the upper hand over Wandong for much of the season, but on the biggest stage the Warriors rose to the challenge, delivering a complete team performance that stunned their rivals.

From the first bounce, Wandong set the tone with relentless pressure and fierce determination. Every player contributed, showing courage and commitment in a contest that demanded heart and teamwork. By half time, the Warriors had gained control, and despite Broadford’s best efforts, they couldn’t halt Wandong’s momentum.

Mark Thomas was the star up forward, booting four goals, while Mason Sawyer, Owen Stewart, Jackson Kilroy and Declan Butterworth added singles to round out a balanced attack. The Warriors’ midfield and defence stood tall throughout the match, with standout performances from Mack Thomas, Jirraky Hobba, Mason Sawyer, Kevin Zugaro, Travis Dawson, and Owen Stewart.

The premiership is a fitting reward for the squad’s hard work across the season, with coaches, families, and supporters cheering proudly from the sidelines.

“This group has given everything all year, and to see them crowned premiers is a moment they’ll never forget,” Club President, Sean O’Connell said.

A true team effort, and one the Wandong community will celebrate for a long time to come.
