MITCHELL Shire’s very own baby and parenting expo is back with a free event that shines a spotlight on nearby goods and services to support women and their babies.

The North Central Mother’s Network (NCMN) are a cohort of local mothers on a mission to improve the health and wellbeing of rural and regional families. 

Technologist, Sanjukta Glentworth said this year there is an emphasis on Paediatric First Aid.

“We are rural parents and it’s important for carers and parents to know basic first aid and even better to have these skills refreshed,” she said.

“We have snake bites and all sorts of unique first aid requirements [in rural Victoria].

“NCMN provides Paediatric First Aid courses all year round, and these are highly subsidised to make them affordable.

“The Kilmore VIC SES and Mighty First Aid will also be holding safety related workshops at the expo.”

In between workshops, parents and carers can expect to see a variety of services to support mothers including a pelvic floor physiotherapist, a birth and postnatal doula and a perinatal psychologist.

Across 35 amazing stalls, participants can purchase sustainable nappies, maternity wear and baby clothing just to name a few.

Some of the community service organisations sharing information include The Australian Breastfeeding Association, Family Care and the Toy Library of Kilmore.

Throughout the day there are random gift vouchers to win, face painting and sensory play activities for the kids; and raffle tickets to buy for a chance to win a swing set from Bunnings and two pamper hampers.

Doors open at 9am and the first workshop begins at 9.30am; the last workshop is scheduled for 12.30pm and the expo concludes at 1pm.

The Pregnancy and Post Birth expo will be held on Saturday, September 13 at the JK Pavilion at Trackside, East Street in Kilmore.
