A SOUTH Morang woman’s gloomy day turned into one she’ll never forget when her morning coffee came with the sweet realisation she’d won $1 million in the latest Weekday Windfall draw.

The Melbourne local held one of two division one winning entries in draw 4590 on Monday, August 25, and will now take home a life-changing $1 million.

Because her entry was not registered to The Lott Members Club, officials were unable to reach her directly — leaving the winner to stumble upon the news herself.

“I just keep thinking, ‘Bloody hell, I’m a winner!’” she said.

“All the adrenaline has settled down a bit now. I’m honestly just so grateful. It will be a huge help to me and my family.

“We’ll use it for the realistic stuff — it’ll come in handy with those everyday things. I was feeling so upset yesterday, and little did I know I had won the lottery!

“I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I got up and made myself a coffee. That’s when I remembered I had a Lotto ticket, but I couldn’t remember where I’d put it. I eventually found it under some cards, checked it, and just went, ‘Oh my god!’”

The winner said she only plays occasionally, usually when feeling down or while visiting her local newsagency.

“Now I know why you guys are always saying to register your tickets. I just never thought it would actually happen!” she said.

Her winning ticket was purchased at Nextra Plenty Valley, Westfield Plenty Valley in Mill Park.

Store manager Connie Misitano said the outlet was thrilled to have sold a division one prize.

“We were so excited to hear that we had sold a division one winning ticket, and we’re thrilled for our customer,” she said.

“This is the first time we’ve sold one since we purchased the store, so we couldn’t be happier.”

The winning numbers were 6, 4, 10, 37, 23 and 41, with supplementary numbers 11 and 36.

Across Australia, there were two division one winners in the draw — one each in Victoria and Queensland.
