MITCHELL Volume Crime Reduction Team officers are appealing for public assistance following a series of thefts, petrol thefts and $10,000 worth of tools stolen in the Kilmore and Wallan areas earlier this month.

Investigators believe a man and woman, travelling in a stolen Toyota Landcruiser, were involved in more than a dozen thefts or attempted thefts in Kilmore, Wallan and Wollert between Saturday 9 to Monday 11 August.

It is understood the tools were stolen from an Isuzu utility, which was parked on a construction site at Speckled Warbler Loop in Wallan, about 4am on August 10.

Investigators believe stolen credit cards were also used to purchase fuel from a Queen Street service station in Wallan just after 5.30am on the same day.

Police believe the same offenders then stole a blue Ford Maverick from outside a residence on Foxtail Court in Wallan a short time later about 5.45am.

More than $600 worth of petrol was later stolen in jerry cans from a Harvest Home Road service station in Wollert, using a box trailer being towed by the stolen Landcruiser, about 8pm on August 11.

The Landcruiser was located burnt out on Raynors Road in Clonbinane on August 12.

Investigators have released images and CCTV footage of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

He is described as being aged in his 20s or 30s, Caucasian in appearance with a medium build.

He was wearing a white hooded jumper, black trackpants, black gloves, white Nike shoes and a baseball cap.

The female offender is described as Caucasian with a thin build, dark hair and was wearing a black jacket and black beanie.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at crimestoppersvic.com.au.
