MITCHELL Rangers’ men were right in the game on Saturday afternoon but couldn’t quite find the finishing touch to bring down Roxburgh Park United at Broadford Secondary College, going down 1-0.

Regardless, it continues an encouraging run of form for Rangers, who are starting to compete with higher-ranked teams, despite amassing just one point for the season so far.

All square at half time, Rangers were brought undone by a 73rd minute goal for United, scored by Aashish Lama.

Rangers will travel to Alphington Park Oval this week but will have one final home game on September 6 when they host Moreland Eagles.

Rangers’ women also had a good crack at the contest against Keon Park but went down 2-0.

Two second half goals from Emily Sabatino meant Rangers are still waiting for a breakthrough win.

Rangers will take on Epping City this weekend, before their final home game of the season against Upfield on September 7.
