WHEN texting, our sources recommend keeping up with the times by shortening the English language, and here’s a list of the most popular terms our young people are using atm (at the moment).
And tbh (to be honest) it makes a lot of sense as we have become 24/7 communicators, and no one likes to think they are forgotten, so brb (be right back) and ttyl (talk to you later) are the new ways to pause a conversation.
jk (just kidding), no I’m not btw (by the way), many, many people are isolated from friends and family and social media has become the preferred platform to keep in touch, and hold lengthy conversations.
irl (in real life) we had to arrange visits, bring afternoon tea, wear our Sunday best, but imo (in my opinion) the social etiquettes are no longer the norm.
What do you mean? (wdym) it’s obvious a new generation of language has been generated out of necessity.
And finally, rq, (real quick), icydk, even our Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese is on board, in case you didn’t know.
