AN update on a local mega fundraiser has come to light, as the Love Your Sister campaign raised $20 million to help to provide for Precision Medicine for cancer patients everywhere met an aspirational target.
Samuel Johnson’s story so far has touched thousands of cancer sufferers and their loved ones, and he hasn’t done it alone, Love Your Sister was co-founded with his sister, Connie Johnson in 2013.
One of Johnsons greatest achievements was to ride his unicycle around Australia across 2013 and 2014 after being dared by Connie following her diagnosis of terminal breast cancer.
The inaugural road trip raised an outstanding 1.4 million dollars; Johnson owes his success to his gregarious and can do attitude and also to the public who have generously supported his quest before and after Connie lost her cancer battle at just 40 years of age.
Johnson has pledged to never stop until cancer is vanquished and has built a village of followers who want the right treatment for every cancer patient, the first time and every time.
Recently Johnson created another epic way to raise crowd funds by calling on 1000 businesses to help, and in January 2025, Johnson pledged an optimistic $186,484 to also help the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia who are also aiming to make precision medicine available to children with cancer. The Oops. I dug a hole campaign speaks for itself, and upon a visit to loveyoursister.org there’s a wide assortment of ways to give with a variety of quirky items to purchase in return.
Love Your Sister proudly passes on 100 per cent of every individual donation received to scientific research; Johnson said there is absolutely no skimming, however there is an avenue for donations which will help with administrative operations.
