Will you be part of Plastic Free July by pledging to refuse single-use plastics?

Say no to plastic wrap; the products used to make plastic wrap contain derivatives of crude oil and natural gas, and when the wraps are discarded, they can end up in water ways and become a threat to aquatic.

Instead, use alfoil which can be recycled and repurposed or a reusable container. To keep food fresh why not cover it with a fitting crockery item?

All those frozen but convenient meals are adding to the planets plastics pile.

Not only is it healthier to make your own meals it doesn’t involve takeout containers or doggy bags.

For those times when you do order in or eat out, wash the container and give it a second life. Take away containers are great for storing buttons, seed packets and just about any small miscellaneous item. Often, the containers are clear so you won’t loose sight of your belonging and its better still when they’re similar shapes and can stack up somewhere safe until you need them.

Another tip for the kitchen: Choose wooden cutting boards, with proper care, wooden cutting boards are a safer alternative that can last you many years. Research has found that plastic cutting boards could be a significant source of microplastics in our diet.
