KILMORE’S very own Pulse Race Boats is continuing to take over the world of jet boat racing, taking the first round of the ASBR Pro Series in America.
The event was held at a new purpose-built track in Lewiston, Idaho, at the EC Enterprises Motorsports Park, and Pure Insanity, the team that purchased one of Pulse’s boats, along with driver River Rogers and navigator Cole Keatts, took advantage to win by a mindboggling two seconds, with a best lap time of 35.413 seconds.
Pulse’s Daniel James, who went over to provide track support and coaching, said it was beyond what he was expecting.
“We were very pleased with the result. We weren’t anticipating going over the win. The team and the driver have been driving for a while in the LS class in the World Series, and River’s a great driver, but hadn’t done Unlimited before, but we went there to dial the boat in and get him used to that class, and he went out there and beat them by a fair bit, which was great,” he said.
“Normally a winning margin is two tenths, not two or three seconds. It was simply dominant and handing it to them. It’s a big result.”
James said it was also a tribute to the natural talent that Rogers possessed behind the wheel.
“River’s dad, Ryan, is an ex-world champion in Unlimited sprint boats, so it’s not like they are new to the sport. Boating to them is second nature. We knew as a team and as people, they’d be familiar with the boats. River isn’t even 21 yet. We weren’t too sure how it would pan out, being a younger driver and their attitude, but he was unreal as a driver and his approach to the race meeting, embracing the feedback and what we were trying to explain to him,” he said.
The next round of the ASBR Pro Series will be held in July.
