THE Kilmore Toy Library is desperately in need of new committee members, with several volunteers stepping away in recent weeks.
Kilmore Toy Library president Hayley Walton made an impassioned plea last week on social media for new volunteers to come forward, while also announcing that she no longer has the capacity to continue on as president after the upcoming annual general meeting.
“I’m reaching out with an urgent message and a heartfelt request for support,” she said.
“Our toy library is in desperate need of new committee members. Unfortunately, several of our wonderful volunteers have recently had to step down due to moving away, full-time work commitments, or exciting new additions to their families. As a result, we currently have very few active committee members, and we are struggling to keep things going.
“As president, it’s also with a heavy heart that I share I will need to step down from this role.
“While I will continue to support the committee in the short term, I simply no longer have the capacity to fulfil the demands of the position while working and raising my four beautiful boys. I know how important the toy library is to so many families, which makes this decision even harder.
“But we need your help now.
“Without new members stepping into committee roles, we will be forced to make the incredibly difficult decision to close the toy library at our next AGM in July. This would be a huge loss for our community.
“If you think you can help in any way—big or small—please reach out to us. If stepping into a committee role feels like too much, maybe you have ideas for how we can attract new members or volunteers. We’re open to any and all suggestions.
“This toy library belongs to all of us. With just a few extra hands, we can keep it going strong. Thank you for being part of our community and for considering how you might be able to help.”
The initial response has been positive, with multiple people putting their hands up to help, while other Toy Libraries have also offered advice on how to keep operations going.
