NEXT weekend, The Kilmore Art Expo will pay tribute to well-recognised artist Sheila White with a feature exhibit of her lifetime work.

Family members have offered the Kilmore Art Society (KAS) the opportunity to sell a selection of her paintings at this year’s Art Expo.

Sheila commenced painting while living in the Southern Highlands and the Central Coast Hinterland of NSW and moved to Victoria for family reasons around seven years ago. Soon after, she moved to the Mitchell Shire and connected with KAS where she participated in their exhibitions and even held workshops and invited members into her home studio at Hidden Valley.

Sheila’s vibrant and sensitive work has been hung in major exhibitions around the country, and she has received over sixty awards and commendations. She enjoyed painting with strong colour and the effects of light—much of her work is influenced by her keen interest in wildlife, music, travel, and natural environments.

Sheila’s work includes both figurative and abstract subjects, and she painted in oil, watercolour, and pastel.

Sadly, Ms White passed away in March this year, aged 98, and she will be very sadly missed.

Director of The Kilmore Art Expo Cheryl Eve reflected on Sheila’s memory.

“We are delighted to recognise the life and work of Sheila White by displaying her artwork on a Tribute Wall at the Kilmore Art Exhibition next weekend,” she said.

“Preview night, on Friday, April 11 presents an opportunity to not only see the 2025 gallery for the first time, but to also enjoy live music, wonderful food, drinks, good company, and to meet the 2025 Kilmore Art Expo artists.”

The doors open at 6.30pm and the presentation of the Awards is an hour later, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are $30 for adults and $5 for children and are available online or on the night at the door, visit www.kilmoreartexpo.com.au.
